Summer 2026 – What’s up

Hello!

Our updates have been so scarce that I want to give a bigger update of what’s up with Dragetarr at the moment.

We were very active from 2021 – 2023 until I became too unwell to continue, and needed a break for my health. In 2025 I started feeling better and slowly got back to making art. We released a limited batch of dragon dolls and some completely new dragon art items. Truth to be told, I haven’t really recovered completely yet. I have needed to work hard even when my health has been demanding rest.

Even with such a beautiful thing as making art, there is no sanctuary from world politics and economical situations. Few are the people in my circles who haven’t been greatly impacted by Finland’s price and tax increases, horribly high unemployment rate, and government’s cuts here and there to achieve savings. It’s not an overstatement to say that I found Dragetarr at the worst possible time in 2021. Ever since 2020 the world has been burning and has kept going worse. I’ve considered bankrupting the company numerous times – it would have made things easier for my family.

So how does this all reflect on our dragon dolls? I’ve needed every ounce of my energy to go to my day job just to get by. On top of this we’re out in packaging materials, authenticity certificates, elastics etc. Restocking those is really not an option right now. At the moment our very small business is highly dependent on our household’s resources. We’re very tight, so we can’t afford investment requiring art at the moment.

I love our dragon dolls dearly and have every intention of getting back to them when it’s possible. So what can you expect from us in the near future? I’m finally working on illustrating Worshipped – the stories and universe behind Dragetarr’s dragons and other creatures. I also have multiple smaller art projects in mind – all dragon related. I’m very excited about them and I can’t wait to show them to you. Also, I really liked the new collection concept for our shop. So we’ll continue doing that in the future. So instead of just having a drop of BJD dragons there will be a variety of products connected to the same theme. These various items form the collection.

This is all for now. Thank you greatly for reading this far. I keep creating art at my own pace and try to get better. I wish you a wonderful summer, and I’ll keep you updated on my dragon projects.

Kindly,
Petra – the artist from Dragetarr
